About PlumbingBO
A plumbing company based on Seventh Avenue in Chelsea, working across west and central Manhattan.
What we do and where
We are a plumbing company operating out of 153 7th Ave in Chelsea, covering the west side and center of Manhattan for residential and commercial property. We are contactable at any hour, and that is not a marketing arrangement: a person answers the phone at night, and if the situation can safely wait until morning we say so rather than send someone out at an after-hours rate you do not need to pay.
The buildings we work in
Our patch is unusually consistent in one respect. From the Village up through Chelsea to the 40s, a very large proportion of the building stock was put up for something other than living in: garment lofts, textile warehouses, market buildings, light manufacturing. Most of it was converted decades after it was built, and the plumbing was added to a frame that had no provision for it.
Alongside that sit tenements from the 1880s where bathrooms were fitted into rooms that never had them, row houses from the 1840s that were divided into apartments a century ago, and, at Hudson Yards, buildings that went up last decade and have an entirely different set of problems.
Knowing which of those you are standing in changes the first question we ask. It is most of what we bring to a call.
How we quote
You get the price before work starts. If what we find changes the price, you approve the new number before we carry on. For diagnostic work such as leak detection or a camera survey there is a charge, because it takes specialist equipment and real time, and we tell you what that charge is before coming out.
What we tell you
Two things we try to be straight about, because they cost us work in the short run and earn it back over time.
- When something can wait. Not every fault needs attention tonight. If yours does not, we would rather say so.
- When something is not ours to do. Plenty of problems in these buildings are the building's equipment or the building's responsibility rather than yours. Telling you that costs us a job and saves you a bill.
What our customers say
Ratings shown are our own record of customer feedback and are presented here as information rather than as a claim about the market.
Getting in touch
Call (315) 228-9299 at any hour, or email [email protected] for anything that is not urgent. Our contact page has the address and a map.
We would rather spend an extra half hour finding out what is actually wrong than an extra day fixing the wrong thing. In these buildings that is not a philosophy, it is arithmetic.
